Highlights: Austin Affordable Art Fair

Standout artwork from the third iteration of the Affordable Art Fair, Austin

After living in Austin for nearly a decade, its such a pleasure seeing the art scene grow and evolve. I moved here from New England, by way of Nashville, with high expectations for the "Live Music Capital of the World".

Surely, I thought, this 'weird' (affectionately) city would have a thriving, bustling scene for artists, creatives, collectors, and institutions.

While Austin may not be on the map of major international art cities yet— us Longhorns are certainly doing the work to support the rapidly growing arts economy.

One of those examples is the Affordable Art Fair.

What follows are my favorite works and galleries I encountered this week:

Apama Strickland Gallery, Houston, Texas and Bangalore, India.
